ABOUT THE CREATOR

Keith Galloway | Playwright

“The Fabulous Fables of Aesop”, originally created by the late Keith Galloway, has been presented over the last 30 years in various guises all over South Africa.  Originally performed in 1992, it was presented at the Waterfront Theatre College during a specially arranged cultural festival for children from disadvantaged backgrounds.  The fables were presented in a mixture of English and isiXhosa. Surprisingly, the show has never been filmed in its entirety, although there have been over 15 versions throughout the years.

Keith Galloway appeared in, choreographed or directed no less than 17 West End musicals, prior to arriving in South Africa in 1976. UK credits include “ Man of La Mancha”, “ Hello Dolly”, “The Music Man” and “ How to Succeed in Business”, which he also directed in Denmark. UK television credits include choreography and appearances for BBC, ITV and the USA. In SA, he quickly established himself as South Africa’s top television choreographer, his production of “ Magic Maestro Please” winning the first ever Artes Award.  Keith has written and directed numerous original productions, from youth theatre to plays, musicals and corporate events, as well as choreographing dozens of television commercials.
